FAQs

How is pediatric physical therapy different than physical therapy for adults?

Pediatric physical therapy focuses on helping your child gain age-appropriate gross motor milestones (https://www.cdc.gov/ncbddd/actearly/milestones/index.html) with a focus on incorporating structure and/or interventions into a child’s daily routines and utilizing typical exercises as appropriate.

How might physical therapy for a dancer/gymnast look different than an average person of the same age?

Dancers and gymnasts have a higher demand on their bodies for increased flexibility. They consistently push their bodies to do skills that go beyond the normal expected ranges for the joints in their body. Physical therapy for dancers requires an understanding of the amount of motion required and what are typical movements needed for the body.
